Surface Bar piercing is the only method of surface piercing that has, over time, proven itself to be reliable. It works by using "staple shaped" jewelry – that is, the jewelry goes straight down into the skin, then straight across, and then straight out. The purpose is to avoid any upwards pressure on the skin, leading to migration.
